Boyle Grills Top Trump Trade Official Over Offshoring and Inflation
WASHINGTON, DC – At a Ways and Means Committee hearing with United States Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) demanded answers about the Trump administration’s disastrous trade agenda and the offshoring of American factories, including the former Nabisco facility in Northeast Philadelphia.
During his questioning, Boyle reminded USTR Greer of the impact the Trump administration’s trade policies have had on American families, calling them “nothing short of disastrous.” Boyle noted that even the Trump-appointed Fed Chair has confirmed that Trump’s costly tariff taxes are the major driver of inflation.
Boyle emphasized the need to make “our trade policies fair for not just American consumers, but also American workers.” He spoke about the offshoring of Nabisco’s former factory in his district, which he fought to stop. “This is a factory that had been there for many decades. Now those jobs are in Mexico where workers there earn pennies on the dollars that were being earned by American workers,” said Boyle.
