Boyle Statement on 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) issued the following statement on the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act:
"The United States faces a severe housing shortage, with millions of homes in urgent need of construction, while the median age of first-time homebuyers has climbed to 40.
The Senate’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which combines key provisions from the Housing for the 21st Century Act that I proudly voted for, represents the biggest step forward in federal housing policy in a generation.
I was particularly pleased to see the Whole-Home Repairs Act, based on a Pennsylvania program started in my home city of Philadelphia by State Senator Nikil Saval, included in this package. I commend State Senator Saval for his commitment to housing affordability and for crafting the blueprint for such an important program.
I urge House Leadership to swiftly bring this legislation to the House Floor and send it to the President’s desk to bring down housing costs for American families. House Republicans should not stand in the way of this important effort to improve affordability."
