National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Today is an important day for the entire nation, as we pay tribute to the men and women who risk their lives daily to ensure that we are all safe in our homes, at our jobs, or simply just walking down the street. The bravery and heroism that law enforcement officers display every day is incalculable. I am a proud native of Philadelphia and we have sadly seen too many of our men and women in blue die while protecting our city. Since 1828, 259 of Philadelphia's finest have lost their lives while on duty. The senseless deaths of these officers, like Officer Danny Boyle who was just 21 years old when he was gunned down during a stolen car stop in 1991, reminds us all of the debt of gratitude we owe all members of law enforcement. So while it is not enough to show my eternal gratitude for your sacrifice and hard work, I would like to say Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
