Boyle Calls on Azar To Create Special ACA Enrollment Period
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) today called on Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services, Alex Azar, to establish a Special Enrollment Period for Affordable Care Act Marketplace coverage during the coronavirus pandemic. By doing so, this would allow those who are uninsured or underinsured to obtain the comprehensive coverage they need for coronavirus testing.
“During this public health emergency, we cannot let financial burdens prevent Americans from getting tested and receiving the care they need,” said Congressman Boyle. “The coronavirus is rapidly spreading in the United States and access to affordable health care is a necessary tool to combat the pandemic. When a few Americans are at risk, the whole community is at risk. I urge the Secretary to quickly open a special enrollment period to increase access to critical services during this troubling time.”
Congressman Boyle joined over 100 Members of Congress to urge Secretary Azar to employ existing authority to establish a Special Enrollment Period for patients to seek Affordable Care Act Marketplace coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic.
