Boyle Condemns President Trump’s Latest Offensive Remarks Toward Immigrants

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-13) released the following statement in response to reports that President Trump attacked immigrants from "shithole countries" including Haiti, El Salvador, and various African nations.

"The President's remarks are disgusting, racist, and deeply offensive to our core values as a nation of immigrants. This nation was built upon the foundational promise that if you're willing to work hard and play by the rules, we welcome you with open arms regardless of where you come from. One of our greatest strengths is our rich diversity built by decades of immigrants coming here in search of opportunity."

As the proud son of an Irish immigrant, I know that we must honor our nation's heritage of diversity and inclusion. When Donald Trump attacks any one group of immigrants, he attacks us all. Not only is this another degradation of the office of the President: it is at odds with who we are as Americans."
