February 9, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) was named Vice Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget.

"It is a tremendous honor to be selected as Vice Chair by my colleagues on the House Budget Committee," said Congressman Boyle. "The Budget Committee will soon play a crucial role in preparing the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan for a floor vote and passage. I look forward to working closely with Chairman Yarmuth to make sure our budget priorities reflect the values and aspirations of all of our fellow Americans."

Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth (KY-03) said, "Brendan's keen intellect and knowledge of the budget will be a big asset to our important work." He added, "Brendan has proven himself to be a relentless fighter for those hard working, everyday Americans who need a champion. I look forward to continuing to work with him."

The House Budget Committee's chief responsibility is to draft the annual budget resolution that provides a congressional framework for spending and revenue levels, the federal surplus or deficit, and public debt. In drafting the budget resolution, the Committee examines the President's annual budget request, as well as economic and fiscal projections from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The Committee also has jurisdiction over budget process laws and tracks the budgetary effects of legislative action.
