Boyle Introduces Sweeping “Buy America” Infrastructure Bill
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) announced the introduction of H.R. 2755, the Buy America 2.0 Act, to require that all federally-funded infrastructure projects use materials made here in America. The legislation is supported by numerous labor organizations and coalitions including: the Alliance for American Manufacturing, BlueGreen Alliance, International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO, and Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO.
“In America, our infrastructure is crumbling, and so is our middle class. When Congress moves to rebuild our infrastructure from our roads to our electric grid, we must do so in a way that boosts American workers and manufacturers, creating broad-based economic growth. That means using the high-quality U.S. steel, iron, and other materials made by hardworking Americans. The Buy America 2.0 Act is the only way to make sure that our federal investment in rebuilding our infrastructure is an investment in rebuilding the American Dream, too.”
In the midst of Infrastructure Week, the introduction of the Buy America 2.0 Act signifies Congressman Boyle’s steadfast commitment to a robust, comprehensive infrastructure package. As Democrats continue to negotiate details, this legislation would ensure American workers and American industries are part of the plan.
Boyle is joined on the bill by Reps. Garamendi (CA), Kildee (MI), Pocan (WI), Gallego (AZ), Holmes Norton (DC), Cisneros (CA), Sherman (CA), Lawrence (MI), Lamb (PA), Soto (FL), Finkenauer (IA), Sanchez (CA), and Veasey (TX).
