BOYLE STATEMENT ON COUNTERTERRORISM OPERATION AGAINST LEADER OF ISIS

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA02) released the following statement after President Biden announced that the leader of ISIS, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, was killed in a counterterrorism operation in northwestern Syria:

"Last night, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi,—the leader of ISIS—was taken off the battlefield. Since Hajji Abdullah took over ISIS in 2019, he has directed terrorist operations targeting Americans and countless civilians in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Because of the bravery of our troops, this horrible terrorist leader is no more."

"The members of our military are the solid-steel backbone of our nation, ready to fly into danger at a moment's notice to keep our country and the American people safe. I applaud President Biden's leadership and I am grateful for the immense courage, skill, and determination of our U.S. forces who successfully executed this incredibly challenging mission."
