Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) released the following statement on the resignation of Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló:

“Puerto Rico has suffered from decades of economic neglect, crushing debt and a humanitarian crisis resulting from a natural disaster”, said Congressman Boyle. “The people of Puerto Rico need leadership that they trust at this critical time. It is my hope that they can now turn the page and that everyone on the island will be treated with the fairness and decency they deserve.”

“The spirit of the people of Puerto Rico has proven invincible. As the island moves forward, regardless of political party or persuasion, everyone must come together to re-build their institutions and increase transparency. It is my heartfelt hope that after today the people of Puerto Rico will be further empowered to chart a path forward to a more prosperous future. I look forward to working with the Governor’s successor in order to ensure the federal aid and resources that are available to the island are appropriately delivered and administered.”
