Boyle Statement on Two-Year Anniversary of Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

February 24, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. -Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee and Co-Chair of the Congressional European Union Caucus issued the following statement ahead of the two-year anniversary of Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. Congressman Boyle recently returned from attending the Munich Security Conference and joint committee meetings of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, where he chairs the Political Committee.

“Two years ago today, the world watched in horror as Russian tanks and missiles streamed into Ukraine. Even as many predicted Kyiv would fall in a matter of days, the Ukrainian people have shown that they can fight – and with the free world behind them, they can win.”

“As House Republicans sit on their hands, our allies and adversaries alike are watching to see whether the United States will stand up to autocracy and ensure Ukraine has the support it needs to fight back against Putin’s brutal invasion. Most importantly, the Ukrainian soldiers bravely fighting even as they run low on ammunition are watching to see whether America will keep our word.”

“The people of Ukraine have proven they have the courage to fight for their freedom. Do House Republicans have the courage to stand up to Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin?”
