BOYLE VOTES TO PREVENT CATASTROPHIC DEFAULT; RENEWS PUSH TO REFORM DEBT CEILING

October 12, 2021
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Vice Chair of the House Budget Committee, and primary sponsor of the Debt Ceiling Reform Act, released the following statement:

“Tonight, I voted for and the House passed legislation to protect the full faith and credit of the United States”, said Congressman Boyle. “Our actions will save the country from financial calamity and allow the government to pay its debts. Sadly, however, tonight’s vote on this temporary fix does not fully solve the problem. My recently introduced legislation, the Debt Ceiling Reform Act, that I introduced with Budget Chairman John Yarmuth (KY-03), would eliminate debt limit partisanship as we now know it, and transfer the authority to the Treasury Department. I urge Congress to pass my Debt Ceiling Reform Act and end these never ending, dangerous debt ceiling standoffs.”
