Congressman Boyle Announces Federal Funding for Temple University Heart Disease Research
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) released the following statement announcing that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded $255,129 in federal funding to Temple University for heart disease research.
“Heart disease is our country’s leading cause of death, taking over 600,000 lives each year. I’m proud to see Temple University, a staple of Philadelphia’s research community, taking on this important challenge. I offer my sincerest congratulations to the researchers, and will do all I can in Congress to support their mission of preventing these tragic, often premature, deaths.”
The funding comes from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute within the National Institutes of Health, which Congressman Boyle is fighting to fully fund.
