Congressman Boyle Applauds House Passage of Bill Helping Americans Save for Retirement
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, applauded the House of Representatives for passing H.R. 1994, the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act. The bill addresses our retirement income crisis by encouraging more businesses to offer retirement plans and expands opportunities for workers to invest. Congressman Boyle released the following statement upon passage of the bill:
“I was thrilled to see a near-unanimous House pass the SECURE Act today. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I was proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to craft a bill that provides such substantial help to workers amid the growing retirement crisis. At a time when wages are stagnating and the middle class is thinning out, it is more critical than ever that we in Congress support Americans in preparing for retirement. I’m proud to use my position on Ways and Means to fight for families in Pennsylvania and across our country every day.”
Congressman Boyle is a strong advocate for a secure and dignified retirement. He is a member of the Subcommittee on Social Security on the House Ways and Means Committee. The SECURE Act now heads to the Senate for consideration.
