Congressman Boyle Demands FBI & AG Barr Address Surge in Asian American Hate Crimes
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Today, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) sent a letter to the Department of Justice, as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to address the surge in discrimination and hate crimes against Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) as a result of COVID-19.
“Now, more than ever, it is important to stand in solidarity with the AAPI community in Philadelphia and beyond,” said Congressman Boyle. “We’ve witnessed a sudden increase in hateful rhetoric and discrimination against the AAPI community because of the coronavirus, and we cannot let it go unaddressed. We must work together to build a more inclusive and diverse society. After all, our nation has always been strengthened by its diversity, not its division.”
