Congressman Boyle Leads Congressional Push to Fund Syria Stabilization Efforts
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), co-chair of the bipartisan Friends of a Free, Stable, and Democratic Syria Caucus, led a letter urging the House Appropriations Committee to put adequate funding toward the State Department’s Syria stabilization efforts. Boyle released the following statement upon the submission of his letter.
“The political unrest and human rights abuses in Syria threaten the safety and security of all across the globe. Cutting State Department funding while the country remains unstable gives a leg up to terrorist organizations like ISIS that we’ve worked so hard to defeat, and signals to the world our lack of commitment to redressing these abuses. I’m doing all I can to ensure legitimate Syrian authorities are able to peacefully manage the country’s conflict, and promote peace and safety in this ravaged country, to the benefit of all.”
