Congressman Boyle Statement on Passage of National Security Legislation

April 20, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-2), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee and Chair of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Political Committee, issued the statement below, following today’s passage in the House of supplemental funding to protect our national security:

“For months, extreme MAGA Republicans have endangered our national security by siding with Putin and blocking the resources that are urgently needed to help the Ukrainian people defend their democracy. Fortunately, the vast majority of the American people and their elected representatives understand that we must meet this moment and lead the fight against authoritarianism.”

“This critical funding will protect our national security by supporting our democratic allies around the world. It will ensure that Ukraine has the support it needs to fight back against Vladimir Putin, and that Israel can continue to defend itself against Hamas while delivering vital humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza. Today’s House action sends a clear message that the United States will continue to support Ukraine's right to self-determination and that America will always stand for peace, stability, and the principles of democracy.”
