ICYMI: Boyle, Local Leaders Celebrate Improvements to Hammond Fields, Supported by $500,000 in Federal Funding Secured by Boyle
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) joined Feliz Filadelfia and community leaders to throw out a ceremonial first pitch and celebrate improvements made to Hammond Fields. These improvements were supported by federal and local funding, including $500,000 in federal Community Project Funding that Congressman Boyle secured for scoreboards, lighting, and other upgrades.
Boyle was joined by Feliz Filadelfia Executive Director and Founder Jose Rivera, State Representative Anthony Bellmon, and Councilmember Anthony Phillips.
“When Jose came to me with a plan to improve the lighting and other areas of these fields, he had a vision for what was possible,” said Congressman Boyle. “My office and I immediately got to work, and I could not be prouder to be a part of helping make these fields better and more accessible for the people of Olney and the surrounding neighborhoods.”
Thanks to Feliz Filadelfia’s work and with the help of these investments, the once-neglected Hammond Fields now gives kids from Olney, Hunting Park, North Philadelphia, the Lower Northeast, and beyond a safe place to play baseball, softball, tee-ball, and flag football.
