Mr. Speaker, it is an honor to speak on behalf of the good people of Pennsylvania's 13th district. I am grateful that they have permitted me to act in their service in this auspicious chamber.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brendan Boyle (D-P-13) has joined Congressman Patrick Meehan (R-PA-07) in asking for answers from Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus about the delay of a Navy study stalling redevelopment of the former Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Horsham, Montgomery County. The Congressmen sent a joint letter today directly to Secretary Mabus.

I commend the President's America's College Promise proposal. The idea of waiving the first two years of community college tuition for some students will be a godsend for many hard working families who are having trouble making ends met in today's economy. As the first person in my family to go to college and someone who is still paying off tens of thousands of student loan debt I know firsthand how difficult it is to afford a college education.

Boyle entered the congressional race while also running unopposed for his state House seat.
The 13th Congressional District is about evenly split between Philadelphia and Montgomery County. Boyle was the only Philadelphian in the race, with three others hailing from Montgomery County.

Today is an important day for the entire nation, as we pay tribute to the men and women who risk their lives daily to ensure that we are all safe in our homes, at our jobs, or simply just walking down the street. The bravery and heroism that law enforcement officers display every day is incalculable. I am a proud native of Philadelphia and we have sadly seen too many of our men and women in blue die while protecting our city. Since 1828, 259 of Philadelphia's finest have lost their lives while on duty.

WASHINGTON - The two newest members of the Philly area's congressional delegation are pledging their attention to issues such as upgrading the state's roads, bridges and rail service and improving health care at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs facility.
Reps. Brendan Boyle and Ryan Costello are beginning their first week on Capitol Hill. Boyle, a Democrat from the 13th District, represents parts of Philadelphia and Montgomery counties. Costello is a Republican from the 6th District, which covers parts of Chester and Montgomery counties.

WASHINGTON - With nods to history and their future plans, three new members of Congress from the Philadelphia area took oaths of office Tuesday, marking sweeping change to the area's delegation.
U.S. Reps. Brendan Boyle (D.) of Philadelphia, Ryan Costello (R.) of West Chester, and Tom MacArthur (R.) of Toms River, N.J., started their House careers as snow coated the Capitol grounds.
