WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives increased funding for peace programs in the north of Ireland to $2 million as part of a Fiscal Year 2020 government spending package, expected to be signed by the President on Friday. This substantial increase is a result of an amendment offered by Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) in June to the Fiscal Year 2020 State, Foreign Operations Appropriations.

WASHINGTON, DC - With the announcement that an agreement has been reached between United Kingdom and European Union leaders to resolve Brexit, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle issued the following statement:
"I am heartened a Brexit agreement has been reached between the UK government and EU that ensures there will be no hard border on the island of Ireland. From day one, this has been the main priority for many of us. The landmark Good Friday Agreement created relative peace for a generation. It is special and must be guarded. Boyle reintroduced his legislation this session after President Trump again referred to himself as a "stable genius".

The letter comes after the White House announced President Trump plans to hold a formal meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the G20 Summit tomorrow, despite canceling.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.2407, a House Appropriations package including the Fiscal Year 2020 State, Foreign Operations Appropriations Act. This package includes an amendment offered by Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) which doubles funding for the International Fund for Ireland to $1.5 million from $750,000. H.R.2407 now awaits consideration in the Senate.
