Boyle (PA-2) issued the statement below, following today’s announcement by the Biden administration setting the first ever national EPA standard to limit PFAS & PFOA for drinking water. PFAS & PFOA “forever chemicals” are an urgent public health threat. PFAS are persistent, bio accumulative, and toxic. Increasingly, communities across the country continue discovering PFAS & PFOA contamination in their air, land, and water.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Today, U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and John Fetterman (D-PA) and U.S. Representatives Brendan Boyle (PA-02) and Dwight Evans (D-PA-3), secured $158,911,664 in federal funding to reconnect Philadelphia’s Chinatown neighborhood across the Vine Street Expressway (I-676), which split the historic neighborhood apart when it was constructed. The grant will fund construction of a new public park across the expressway and includes traffic calming measures and a connection to the new Rail Park on the Reading viaduct.

Boyle (PA-02) along with U.S. Senators Bob Casey (PA) and John Fetterman (PA), U.S. Representatives Dwight Evans (PA-03), and Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05), and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker announced that SEPTA is receiving $317,160,000 in infrastructure funding to purchase approximately 200 new rail cars on the Market-Frankford Line, SEPTA’s most heavily-used commuter rail line.
